The Cultural Informatics Laboratory (CILab) of the University of the Aegean in Greece, studies the application of information technologies in the context of cultural production, experience, dissemination, and comprehension and at the same time, how technology as a cultural artefact is dependent upon the cultural characteristics of the social groups within which they are developed and used.
Research in these domains has a strong interdisciplinary character and combines expertise in information systems, art history and visual culture, and educational technologies.
CILab also supports the educational programs of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication in relevant domains, such as information management, cultural and creative industries and educational applications.
