Jofre Herrero Ferran
Jofre Herrero is a researcher at the WAS (Water, Air and Soil) unit at Eurecat. Jofre holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Barcelona (UB), a master's degree in Molecular Biotechnology (UB) and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the same university. In the professional field, he is a researcher and teacher focused on environmental geology and hydrogeology, specialized in in situ pollution and decontamination processes and in the management of water resources at the basin level, with more than 15 years of professional experience. He has worked at the UB, and in an environmental consultancy. His professional experience at the UB is related to research projects on soil and groundwater pollution and decontamination and in the consultancy he has worked as a consultant in hydrogeology and environmental geology. At Eurecat he coordinates the LIFE MySOIL project, which deals with the application of mycoremediation for the decontamination and restoration of soils contaminated with complex, long-chain hydrocarbons. In addition, he has participated in different public and private projects related to the improvement of water management, decontamination and restoration of soils and inland waters and the promotion of circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation measures.
