Fondazione Elserino Piol
Looking for Partnership Looking for Extra EU Funds
The Foundation is named after Elserino Piol, a manager and a key figure in the field of information technology and telecommunications for over fifty years, a pioneer of the internet, and the father of venture capital in Italy. He passed away on April 17, 2023.
Elserino Piol, originally from Belluno, devoted his life to innovation and creating value for the companies he worked for or helped create. This included Olivetti, the most valuable Italian high-tech industry, where he spent over forty years advancing professionally in increasingly top roles, taking on challenges posed by the rapid technological changes and international market dynamics. He also played a crucial role in Omnitel, which emerged from his intuition about the opportunities presented by mobile technology, as well as in numerous entrepreneurial and venture capital initiatives, from Tiscali to Yoox.
The Foundation aims to continue the path laid out by Elserino Piol: creating value and innovation by starting with young individuals who want to engage with technology to build new projects and applications for Valmorel, Piol’s birthplace, and the Belluno region. The goal is to enhance these rural and mountainous areas, prevent depopulation, promote growth and development, including through new entrepreneurial initiatives that can be replicated on a national scale.
