Organization: The Cultural Foundation «Routes of the Olive Tree» is a non-profit, nongovernmental organization which implements alternative proposals, events and activities around the theme of intercultural dialogue and sustainable development, focusing on the Mediterranean of the olive tree. Its objective is to internationally promote the Mediterranean olive oil producing regions and their products through innovative projects on thematic tourism and cultural heritage. Cultural Itineraries: Among the most active organizations in the field, the «Routes of the Olive Tree» have traveled 130.000 kilometers and crossed more than 25 countries, bearing “olive branches and civilization”. These successful itineraries are framed with exhibitions, cultural and business meetings, social activities, conventions, contests, as well as research and publications around the olive tree: history, symbolism, cultivation and nutritious value of its products. Network: European Commission (we host the Europe Direct Infrormation Center of Kalamata), Council of Europe, Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Mediterranean Olive Oil Cities Network –RECOMED and many other international organizations, universities and bodies in over 22 countries. International recognitions: «International Cultural Route» by the Unesco and Council «Great European Cultural Route» of the Council of Europe.
