Once produced, plastics are unmanageable. Addressing the plastic pollution crisis must begin not with the question of how much more pollution can be absorbed, but rather with the question of what mitigation measures are needed to reverse the crisis and reduce toxicity, damage to biodiversity, human health and a significant contribution to the climate crisis.
