The Project “The Known and Unknown in the Improvement of the Teachers’ Competences” will be implemented with the participation of the teachers from Limbazi Secondary School no 3 and its structural unit - Youth and Adult Evening (Shift) Secondary School.The aim of the project - to provide the professional development of educators, to give an opportunity to acquire the latest teaching methods for students with different levels of motivation and social skills, in accordance with the development plan of the school. Project participants are experienced teachers of IT, music, mathematics, English and primary school. They will use creative, student-oriented teaching methods in their day to day work.The project activities will consist of teachers’ courses in Croatia and Italy as well as lesson observing in a Finnish school (Puijonsarven koulu).The course: "Action methods increasing motivation in learning situations" will highlight the interconnection of various subjects, the balance between intellectual and emotional learning components and correct use of teaching aid. The course: The creative classroom: tools and tips for language teachers will provide creative, student-centred language teaching methods to language teachers. Moreover, it will give an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with other colleagues. The teachers joining the lessons in the "Puijonsarven koulu" school in Finland will observe the methods applied and the process in the classroom in the whole, thus, gain experience which will be adapted in their own work. Through exercising the newly acquired methods, it will become possible to compare with the ones used every day and witness the individual growth of students. The duration of the project is split into three parts - the initiation phase, implementation and dissemination. The objective of the school is to promote the professional competency of teachers. In the initiation phase it was vital to find the most suitable project partners to achieve the aim of the project project.They are found in Finland where education system at present is one of the best in the world due to providing good learning opportunities. In the Comenius project Limbazi Secondary School No 3 has had cooperation with the Finnish school during which teachers from Limbazi got acquainted with the Finnish school, teachers and the education system on the whole.In the preparatory stage of the project teachers who are going to attend courses will learn about the main objectives and activities of the hosting institutions as well as education systems of the hosting countries. Before the project mobilities the administration and coordinating teachers of the partner school and Limbazi Secondary School No 3 will agree on the possibilities to offer the best and most interesting approach for observing the teaching process.In the implementation stage of the project while attending the courses teachers will gain new knowledge and acquire creative, student – centred teaching methods. These will be tested and adapted in the English language teaching to students on elementary level. Teachers will improve their competences of the inclusive education while working with the students with low motivation and poor social skills in different subjects in either elementary or secondary level. During the participation in the lessons the teachers will evaluate the teaching methods and after selecting the most appropriate ones apply them in their school.Through observing the teaching process and discussions with Finnish teachers it will be possible to see interconnection of Finnish education system and its formula of success.Limbazi district teachers will be informed about the results of the project in methodological commission meetings. Information about the stages of the project will be published and broadcasted periodically in local mass media – newspaper “Auseklis” and Limbazi television.Everyone will have an opportunity to find out about the project, its activities and news in the homepage of Limbazi Secondary school No 3. Students’ parents will also have an opportunity to get acquainted with the Finnish education system through specifically created display board ‘Education in Finland’ during school’s Parents’ Week. Project experience will also be presented in the newspaper “Izglītība un kultūra” (‘Education and Culture’) and it will be distributed to all previous Comenius project partners.The teachers from Limbazi will share their experience with the Finnish colleagues evaluating the benefits from lesson observing and adapting and applying the teaching methods. The long-term impact on the project will materialize through the teachers’ individual professional development by way of reading and implementing new teaching methods to increase students’ motivation
