PROJECT
FINISHED
The project „Zielone światło dla praktyk” will last from 03.11.2014 to 02.11.2016. It will be implemented jointly by Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Technicznych and the agency Your International Training and it assumes apprenticeship training in Ireland for 2 groups of students aged 16-19. Those will be technical secondary school students recruited in an internal selection process from the following specialisations: economist technician, commerce technician, motor vehicle technician, IT technician, renewable energy devices and systems technician. Most of them are students from poor families since the unemployment rate in the region is high. They live in post-state farm environments, for a majority of them, it will certainly be the first foreign trip.
For the school, the objective of the apprenticeship programme is raising the level of practical education, which significantly influences the graduates' employment, higher vocational and linguistic qualifications as well as enhances their activity and interest in innovation. The students will be able to draw on the experience of foreign specialists and experts in economy, commerce, motor vehicles, IT as well as renewable energy devices and systems and, most of all, there will be a correlation between the theoretical skills and practice as well as verification of their knowledge. The apprenticeship will allow students to get to know their strengths and weaknesses. During the practice, a pragmatic approach to the undertaken tasks will be shaped. Project participants will be motivated to undertake independent and creative actions as well as for self-improvement.
Before each stay, an information campaign on the foreign apprenticeship programme will be held among students. It will be followed by the recruitment process and language and culture classes preparing for the stay. During this period, the students will write a pre-test and sign an agreement. The first group will leave in May 2015 and the next one in May 2016 - it is connected with the dates of apprenticeship training at the school.
After each apprenticeship stay, the students will complete a questionnaire and a post-test, reports on the stay and the implementation of the apprenticeship programme will be prepared and the students will receive Europass Mobility certificates. The results of the project will be published in the press and on the school's and YIT websites.
By becoming familiar with a foreign market, the students will raise their own qualifications, which may allow for subsequent introduction of innovation on the local job market. Improved language skills and the use of specialist language in practice will also be an important aspect.
The project will have a positive influence on the development of our municipality where the unemployment rate is 26%, which means that people with a lower level of education run the risk of long-term unemployment and social exclusion. Future employers of project participants will gain measurable benefits from well-prepared, creative, English-speaking employee. The promotion of the implemented project among middle schools students in our region will encourage them to choose vocational schools, which will significantly contribute to the promotion of the school.
