PROJECT
FINISHED
The outbreak of the financial crisis has affected many EU countries, among them Slovenia and Croatia. Economic conditions are unfavorable, which is also reflected in the labor market, which exhibits a high level of unemployment among young people. The share of unemployed people with tertiary education is increasing, which means that the share of unemployed people with higher education is increasing. Consequently, this group often starts searching for a job abroad, primarily in Austria. A number of programs, which help finding a job in Austria, are primarily aimed at people with primary or secondary education. Based on that, the primary aims of the project focus on awareness and qualitative and quantitative increase in skills, knowledge and competencies of participants for the purpose of employment in Austria and in the promotion of direct discussions between young people and professionals. Upon this, a camp on the theme »Employ me, neighbor« will be organized, where the objectives of the project will be enforced through interactive lectures, workshops, role-playing and a meeting with representatives of an Austrian agency. Young people will get the opportunity to implement their knowledge into practice in an international, multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. 40 young people from Slovenia and Croatia, representatives of both sexes, aged between 20 and 30 years, will be invited to participate. We want to offer them the possibility to appropriate the necessary elements to get an employment in Austria.
Project participants will have the opportunity of acquiring and deepening a number of new skills and competencies, which include knowledge and experience in the field of employment in other EU countries, primarily in Austria, a variety of options for employment search and a qualitative completion of application documents in multiple languages. One of the most important acquisitions will be the possibility of implementing the composed documentations into practice, which on the one hand will be possible through preparation and implementation of role-playing, and on the other hand, through interviews with representatives of the Austrian agency »Qualifizierungsagentur Oststeiermark«. In this way, the opportunity to create long-term contacts not only with experts from the field of employment in Austria but also with peers from another country will be given. Also important indirect effects will be generated including familiarization with the proper behavior in a job interview, an increased self-confidence, acquired and improved communication and presentational skills, and acquired knowledge about foreign languages and cultures. Consequently, this will raise awareness about European Integration, and the consciousness of being a citizen of the European Union, and a member of a larger multinational, multicultural and multilingual community. All acquired competences will be an important asset for all participants, as they represent an important added value and competitive advantage in today's globalized and competitive environment. At last, a more competent and capable young staff from Slovenia and Croatia has greater opportunities to obtain employment and consequently, can contribute to reducing the overall unemployment rate among young people and significantly contribute to the growth and progress of the European Union in general.
