The European Ten Sing Conference (ETS Conference) brought together professional and volunteer youth workers from all over Europe interested in the music, cultural and creative youth program Ten Sing of the YMCA. The Ten Sing methodology is a powerful transforming youth work program for teenagers and young adults aged 13-30. It consists of e few key models: youth leadership, democratic structures, youth culture, inclusiveness and creative and musical performance arts (drama, dance, music). This concept emphasises ethical and social components. Through the conference the participants learnt not only about the Ten Sing methodology, they also actively participated in project-management, leadership capacity building and strategy development workshops. Most of the participants were 18-30 years old and were active professional and volunteer youth workers in their local communities or regional/national coordinators in the YMCA movement. There were 40 participants: 32 were recruited from 15 countries that were the partners in Erasmus+ project and 8 participants came from other countries (England, Hungary, Portugal Switzerland - their costs were covered from other sources). During the conference were run activities on the Ten Sing methodology: leadership, project management, local-to-local partnership, storytelling, strategy development and cultural diversity. They were presented through a variety of methods including peer-to-peer learning, lectures, workshops, interactive presentations, games, discussion and debates. Among concrete results was gaining or increasing various competences by the people who passed through the training (for this purpose Youthpass methodology was implemented). The competencies they gained enabled them to start new or help existing youth work programmes. They were taught how to set clear goals for working with other young people on local, regional and national level and how to find new cooperation partners on the European level. This should help them and their peers to use musical and creative performing arts to demonstrate youth leadership, democratic processes and strategic thinking (youth empowerment). Long term benefits will be a better understanding between diverse cultures in Europe through performing arts, development of new European networks of young leaders, who tend to transform their local communities through youth and social work and with keeping unified European identity. For some of them the project means increasing their ability for getting a job in the youth sector, or confirming their present work positions in informal education.
