Youth Social Entrepreneurship - Take The Lead!
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

According to the EU Youth Strategy for 2010-18 it is imperative that initiatives should be taken in the areas of training, employment, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, civic participation and creativity. In this context, social entrepreneurship is presented as a strategic tool for the promotion of these target areas and the fight against unemployment and its effects on society. This project aims to promote youth social entrepreneurship, which as a concept combines the need for innovative and profitable business methods with the desire to bring about radical social change. Participants will realize that anyone can become a social entrepreneur, thus creating an inclusive labour market. The training course is aimed at 20 people who work at the youth field and are willing to work for the dissemination of the results of this project to the community and the organizations in which they operate. Priority will be given to applicants who are unemployed and / or belong to vulnerable groups. The project includes activities which will analyse the role of youth in promoting social inclusion and creating new employment opportunities, as well as how social entrepreneurship can be engaged in achieving these. The participants will have the opportunity to be trained about the existing opportunities for social networking and funding and also to develop their personal action plans in order to evolve as social entrepreneurs themselves. The methodological approach is non-formal learning and based on the idea of "learning by doing". The professional training of youth in innovative areas of employment is the first step towards changing the existing passive attitudes and promoting the creation of new opportunities. It is expected that through their participation in the project the participants will develop the abilities / skills they need in order to act autonomously as social entrepreneurs and thus as agents of social change. Hereupon, the desired long-term effect of this project is the empowerment of youth, the development of their autonomy and the expansion of their leadership skills.
