PROJECT
FINISHED
After two managers from Iceland went to a survey visit 2013 to see Verkstäderna a Youth house in Söderhamn Sweden the project started to shape. The aim was to explore and form a youth exchange project between the two countries.
The group formed a plan that got the name Youth Port and the project has a environment and climate change theme. The young people participating Youth Port, will work with areas and tasks in their surrounding environment, like the glaciers near Hornafjordur and the archipelago near Söderhamn. The participants will study how fast glaciers retreat and study trace after vanished glaciers.
The main theme is nature but we are also aiming for goals regarding creativity and culture. They will evolve their ability to make contact with people from other parts of the world, in a foreign language. They will practise and evolve their ability to talk, write and present their experience to others. With this youth participation project we will get new prospective for the both the youth houses in Söderhamn and Hornafjordur. The participants are young people that are active users of the youth houses and have applied to be a part of the project. There are fifteen participants from Iceland and one manager. In Sweden we have eight participants and two managers.
The methodology to achieve the objectives related to learning is learning through experience, that every participant will be able to contribute and select the form that is best suited for documenting. The group will then come to a conclusion about the outcome and the way it will be presented with discussion work meetings.
The outcome of the work will be presented in many ways. In Iceland we will have open conference about the outcome and in Sweden the participant will give lecture to the teachers of Söderhamn telling them about their experiences and the project.
In both countries there will be local media publicity about this Erasmus + project, refer to the results, blogg, You Tube links and social media pages about the project.
