2nd National Session of European Youth Parliament Lithuania will gather in total 110 participants from more than 10 European countries. At first we plan on launching an open call for Lithuanian delegates from whom the most motivated young people between 16 and 21 years old will be invited to attend the event. We will carry out selection which will include testing their English language knowledge, their preparation and motivation to discuss the topic. Attention will be paid for gender and regional distribution during the selection process in order to ensure equal opportunities for people from all over Lithuania to get a chance to attend youth events. Our plans also include cooperation with Lithuanian schools which will be asked to gather a delegation of the most active students of their school to take part in our session. Another focus of attention will be addressed to our fellow youth organisations in order to share good practices and introduce the members of those youth organisations to our activities. Priority will be given for youth organisations’ members who experience geographical obstacles so that we could ensure the effective regional distribution which is one of our priorities, as mentioned above. Since the main topic of the event is “Youth for democracy” we will form 8 committees, each consisting of about 10 people, to discuss about economical, civic, defense, human rights, international and other political issues. Each committee will prepare a resolution which they will introduce to the fellow delegates at the very last day of the session – General Assembly which is based on debating. After debating all of the resolutions the best ones will be selected and send to the respective governmental institutions where they are expected to be considered and used. In addition, five best Lithuanian delegates will be invited to represent their country at the 78th International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Izmir, Turkey where people from 38 European countries will gather.We expect that during the National session young people will improve their knowledge about European and Lithuanian political subtleties, it will become for them easier to understand and analize the functioning processes of the European Union as well as the importance of the decisions made at the European Parliament. Particular attention will be paid for developing participants skills of critical thinking, public speaking, civic and global understanding, encouraging them to form and express their opinion. After the session is over, the participants will be able to consider themselves and others more responsibly and consciously, their position at the team and their impact on the produced result.By taking part in our session, young people will grade up their personal and working at the international environment skills, train their own creativity, understand the importance of having a firm opinion and making compromises. Delegates will gather theoretical and practical knowledge, will form a long-lasting friendships with likely-thinking people. In order to achieve all of these aims, teams of both the organizers of the event and the chairs, will use the most effective techniques.The National session will create favorable circumstances for further cooperation, will encourage involvement of young people into the regional, national or even international political process, the life of their community, iniatiate new projects or regional activities. Participants will be invited to become keen on participating at youth NGOs.To assure the further cooperation and young peoples’ involvement into EYP activities, they will be invited to join our organisation after the session, we will also encourage and help them to organize one day mini sessions at their schools, communities in order to attract more young people to political decisions making and improving their personal skills and competences. By acomplishing these goals we expect to pursue the main idea of our organisation which is raising awareness of fundamental youth civic values, being socially and politically active, involving young people into public movement and the basic formation of the concept of Lithuanian and European citizen.
