Youth crime prevention through non-formal education

The project "Youth crime prevention through non-formal education" is the first international project for police inspectors of juvenile delinquency and youth about non-formal education in the police prevention work for young people with fewer opportunities. There are involved four countries of Europe - Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Germany and it is leaded to development of further projects under the Youth in Action program and it is promoted exchanges, cooperation and training in the field of youth work. The main themes of the project are the place of non-formal education in the youth crime prevention and opportunities of education through sport and outdoors activities. The aim of the project is to improve the work of police inspectors in the youth crime prevention units in the different Europe countries and to improve cooperation with realizing new projects in program Youth in action. The length of the project is three month and the main activity is a seminar in Vidzeme region, Latvia from 13th - 18th of September 2011, where police inspectors introducing with non-formal education by different methods (work in groups, discussions, outdoor activities, theater of improvisation, presentations and lectures), giving to others experience ourselves and doing practical exercises in the child care center.
