End date: Jul 1, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
Youth Centre Hrastnik is entering the field of international activity and program Erasmus+ with the project Youth and CreA(c)tivity. Our partner in the project of European Volunteer service is a Spanish organization Asociación Mundus – Un Mundo a tus Pies from Catalonia, which has rich experiences in the field of international activities. Their experiences represent to us a good example and foundation also for later cooperation in international activities as well as an opportunity for an additional joined project.
With our partner organization we have already established good foundations and agreed that our organization will host a volunteer from Catalonia for six months, starting this October. Future volunteer will have an opportunity to actively participate and be creative in our local community through the project Youth and CreA(c)tivity. We wish to achieve a structured exchange of knowledge and experience between the volunteer and youth from our local environment which would bring positive results to the cross-cultural cooperation. This integration and interaction will bring all concerned new skills, knowledge and competences through the process of non-formal learning, it will reinforce their language competences and add a new dimension in lifelong learning as well as broaden their social circle beyond the border of their home country. This would help all concerned to enter the labor force and enhance their employment opportunities.
Through the project we will enable the volunteer the opportunity to strengthen positive attitude towards cultural differences and diversity, enhance his/hers language competences and cross-cultural communication as well as give him/her a chance at non-formal learning in the fields of communication, organization, cooperation with media, enhancing digital literacy as well as spoken and written communication skills. Also we will encourage the volunteer towards active and quality spending of his free time. He will be provided with the guidelines with which he will be able to assess his own learning experiences and competences acquired through the learning process of the project. Mentor will help the volunteer write down the acquired knowledge and competences in Youthpass, and also encourage him towards self-reflection and recognizing new learning opportunities both during the time of the project activities as well as in his free time.
The volunteer will be provided with the opportunities to learn new skills, explore his creativity, enhance his/hers own pro-activity and autonomy as well as the chance to develop his/hers own ideas into concrete and quality activities.
After the end of the project we will ensure for the dissemination of the project results both here and in the volunteers local community. Ass agreed with our partner organization they will provide the volunteer a support after he returns to his home community, and encourage him to spread and disseminate the results of the project there. Also they will help him/her integrate in the society and provide help by giving him/her the information about the options for further education, training and employment.
Implementation of the project will add to our organization a new international dimension which will allow us to communicate with our local environment in new and different ways. We wish that this would enhance our visibility among local youth and cooperation with them, which would contribute towards diversity of our programs. Many youth from our environment are faced with economical and geographical barriers so the presence of an international volunteer would give them a window to the world, help them broaden their horizons and enhance their sense for tolerance and solidarity. This will also promote the idea of international activities and we hope to encourage young people to join the European volunteer service programs or other programs of European youth mobility. This way the youth from our environment will enhance their cross-cultural knowledge, language competences and enhance their chances of employment. Through the project the exchange of good practices among the communities will increase, additional contacts will be made and the idea of international cooperation will strengthen in our community. We wish that this project would help individuals connected to it become more proactive in their lives, being active citizens and open for social participation willing to build a positive environment that promotes creativity and networking in the society at large.
