Young Refugees project
Start date: Aug 1, 2011,

There are nearly two million refugees and asylum seekers in Europe alone. The Young Refugees' Project is a cooperation of Red Cross Youth members in Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Belgium that aims to expand the role play ´Young Refugees´ from Red Cross Youth in Iceland to other parts of Europe. The projects consists of training courses, lectures and group work.Young refugees is a role play that enables young people to put themselves in the shoes of refugees and asylum seekers. The role play takes about 24hrs and during that time the participants go through many of the obstacles refugees are forced to experience in real life, like complicated beurocratics, refugee camps, border patrols and the long and tiring process of asylum seeking that usually leads to denial and expel. With this unique educational technique the participants are able to get a more real-life experience and deeper understanding than they would get through more conventional education.
