Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Valkeakoski Town Centre for Cultural Services undertakes this project which aims to develop the pedagogical competence of adult education staff, to establish a common framework for municipal cultural services in a new operational environment and new joint premises, to promote digital services and to find creative synergies in educational and cultural services in Valkeakoski and in the Southern Pirkanmaa region.During the two-year project in 2016-2018 we will train the staff of the lifelong learning centre, the library and the office of cultural services (including the theatre and art centre). The participants are teachers and administrative staff of the lifelong learning centre as well as staff of the library and cultural services whose work requires pedagogical skills. We will implement 14 course/conference/fair mobilities and 6 job shadowing periods. Language teachers, social studies and wellbeing trainers, crafts teachers as well as team leaders and administrative staff of Valkeakoski Lifelong Learning Centre will participate in courses in their respective fields and/or job shadowing visits in European peer organisations. The pedagogical staff of the library will participate in a conference and a course that promote pedagogical skills in the field of library services. The representatives of the office of cultural services, the theatre and the art centre will visit peer organisations and study creative solutions with which various cultural operators support adult learning in Europe. As a result of the project the pedagogical skills of the participants will increase and all of them will acquire new ideas and tools which enable creative and flexible work in various learning environments: classrooms, digital platforms, various interactive situations, guidance sessions, public events. The pedagogical skills of teachers will increase in their own fields, and they will acquire new teaching methods. Other pedagogical staff will acquire better pedagogical skills and they will acquire pedagogical methods for various customer service and guidance situations. The Valkeakoski Town Centre for Cultural Services will acquire new ideas for the reform of its premises and operational models. The library and office of cultural services will be able to include sustainable pedagogical points of view in their activities. Valkeakoski Lifelong Learning Centre will be able to offer a new and improved curriculum and more varied course content. The new ways of providing adult education and cultural services will lead to better customer feedback and fewer challenging situations. As an organisation we will be able to face new situations taking into account the needs of various customer groups. New digital services will reach also those residents who live outside municipal centres. The increased pedagogical skills of staff enhance the vitality of study groups, attractiveness of public events and participant satisfaction. The result of the project is an organisation that offers municipal residents modern and dynamic educational and cultural services.
