‘Lead for Peace’ (L4P) is a leadership development programme that uses sport to facilitate multicultural dialogue, build peace and engage young citizens from Cyprus and Norway. Through bi-communal activities in Cyprus and cultural exchanges between Cyprus and Norway, the L4P will provide a powerful way to develop a group of young leaders (Turkish-Cypriot, Greek-Cypriot and Norwegian) into ‘Champions for Peace’ - advocates for peace and democracy, and trained practitioners of sport for social development and active citizenship. PeacePlayers-Cyprus (PPI-CY), in partnership with Nesodden IF, will build a network of Young Leaders (Greek-Cypriot, Turkish-Cypriot and Norwegian), aged from 14 to 17, as well as young adult mentors who will be trained to use sport as a tool for societal transformation, with particular emphasis on human rights, engaging culturally conservative communities and encouraging local volunteerism. Activities will be held over the course of 3 months, including a homestay and residential retreat and homestay in Norway.
