“Development of teaching materials for vocational education of deaf people in HORECA sector” is a strategic partnership project implemented by partners from three countries: Poland, Hungary and Greece. The partnership is composed of institutions supporting the deaf people, training institutions of international scope and employers from the HORECA sector. The project objective is a translational cooperation in the field of improving the quality of vocational education of deaf people in the hotel-restaurant-catering (HORECA) industry. Thank to exchange of best practices between partners from three countries solutions supporting deaf people to prepare for starting employment in this industry will be developed. During the 36 months of project implementation, following results will be developed:1.Training courses for deaf person in the workplace in the hotel and gastronomy sector. Training courses will be dedicated to people who want to start working in various professions within the HORECA sector. Courses prepared in a form of movies and scenes recorded and translated into national sign languages of the partnership – e-learning trainings are a very successful form of training in this target group. Thy will also be very helpful for:-employers, who can on their own train potential employees,-deaf people, who can on their own increase their competences,-teachers of profession, to use as an additional teaching material. 2. The thematic dictionary will include basic expressions recorded in the sign language that are necessary for communication between the deaf employee and the hearing part of the team at work. The dictionary will focus on vocabulary used in works performed in HORECA sector. It will be prepared in spoken and sign languages of each project partner. The dictionary will be useful for deaf people, their managers and colleagues for maintaining proper communication at work. The dictionary will also be useful for teachers at vocational schools preparing to work in gastronomy and hotel sector as it will allow for better and more professional preparation of deaf students to work in HORECA sector.3. Deaf at work - the manual for employers from HORECA sector who intend to hire a deaf person. The manual will include among all, characteristics of the deaf society, strong points of deaf employees, any potential problematic points, preparation of team members and advices for selecting places for employment of the dead people. Manual will also have potential for using in other sectors after small modifications.Implementation of the project will impact a min. of 1500 representatives of the following target and stakeholders groups: - The deaf people, who will get first ever chance of real vocational and practical preparation to work in the profession they are theoretically educated for in their schools.- The employers of the HORECA sector, who will get practical teaching materials which on one hand will increase the level of their and their employees’ knowledge about cooperation with a deaf employee, but on the other will provide them ready teaching movies and a dictionary allowing better allocation of a new employee, teaching his/her obligations and helping to avoid problematic situations.- Educational institutions (including schools, vocational education centers, specialist training institutions) who will gain access to professionally prepared teaching and training materials allowing preparation of workforce (primarily, but not only the deaf people) to work in numerous professions of the HORECA sector.- Participating organisations, as primarily the exchange of knowledge and experiences will allow increasing qualifications and competences of people employed in these organisations.- Other organisations working in the field of employment or activation of deaf people or people with disabilities in generally, who will have access to high quality manuals, training courses and dictionary and will be able to use them in their future work for different projects and target groups.- General public who will increase the level of knowledge, understanding of deaf people and their culture. This will allow inclusion of deaf people and building a better European society of tomorrow.Dissemination of project results on local, regional, national and international levels includes activities through project website (also translated into the sign language for accessibility of deaf people), partners’ websites, Facebook profiles, personal meetings, dissemination seminars/workshops organized by each partner and dissemination conference in. Additional channels of disseminating information are contacting regional, national and international institutions supporting people with disabilities (e.g. Ombudsman for People with Disabilities, Deaf Unions).
