PROJECT
FINISHED
The project, carried out together with Initiative Christen für Europa e.V. (The Christians for Europe Initiative), involves the development of political, social and cultural relations as well as discovering new prospects for cooperation between partner cities, cross-border regions and EU member states. This is going to be achieved through voluntary work. In the long-term context voluntary programmes can become a significant element of EU foreign policy.AIMS OF THE PROJECT• To initiate and develop cross-generation dialogue, to improve interpersonal relations, to find common ground (what is similar despite differences), to learn to show respect to other cultures and denominations;• To make it easier for young people to start their career in Europe through offering them opportunities of gaining experience in various spheres: working with different age groups, getting familiar with different methods of work (especially in a team), showing initiative and implementing their own ideas;• To develop democracy and interational cooperation, to create contact network for active participation in social life, to promote pro-citizenship and pro-European attitudes;PARTICIPANTSWe've found active, highly motivated young people who want to widen their horizons, gain experience, participate in the development of international cooperation and democracy, improve their general education and knowledge of other cultures, languages and countries. The key criteria in accepting applicants is meeting the requirements of Erasmus + programme and being ready to do voluntary work abroad. We are looking for people aged 18-30. In planning our work we will carefully choose the participants so that both volunteers and beneficiaries are given equal chances. We are going to take on 2 people and send 1 person (in all: 3 people). The kinds of work for volunteers to participate in will include:• Creative work with children in a kindergarten of musical and linguistic profile• Planning and carrying out cutural activities• Working with young people• Supporting families in their daily household management needs• Work with elderly people in a senior daycare centreThe project will involve methods based on active participation and adapted to particular type of activities, e.g. workshops, cultural events, lectures, interactive games. All the methods will ensure that the participants will not only take part in the project, but also influence the decisions concerning it. Participants will also be encouraged to reflect on and discuss topics related to Europe and in their relations with other people to look for common values despite cultural differences. We would like our project to have a positive effect on the city’s and region’s cultural potential, to raise the citizens’ awareness of Europe, to help in the development of social capital as well as the regional job market. We hope for the development of contacts between partner cities and regions and initiating coperation with other organisations dealing with voluntary work in order to promote the idea of EVS. We strongly support renewing and strengthening cross-generation bonds and we hope the participants of the project will improve their knowledge of foreign languages. In the long-term perspective we want to contribute to:• Achieving the aims of the Europa 2020 project• Promoting the values of the European Union and its image outside the EU• Levelling out the differences in the level of education and welfare in different countries• Exchanging and sharing experience, good practices and ideas• Supporting the positive image of Poland as an active member state of the European Union.
