Work it!
Start date: Feb 29, 2016, End date: Jul 28, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Today’s employment environment is changing due to the rapid technological evolution and global economic crisis. Consequently, job demands are changing wherein they are becoming more difficult to meet while at the same time job insecurity is growing. Young people arose as a particularly vulnerable group. At present, nearly 5 million people in Europe under the age of 25 are unemployed and a total of 7 million are not in employment, education or training. Taking that into account, it has become important to perceive employability in terms of individual characteristics that promote lifelong active adaptability. Therefore, the main aim of the Work it! project was to increase employability of young people by developing their work-related skills through self-learning processes. This project gathered 20 participants from 4 countries on the main activity that was held in Kolenica, Croatia. Target group of the project were youth who are NEET – not in education, employment or training. The main objectives included encouraging participants to view themselves as potentious, providing them with knowledge of self-assessment and helping them to develop work-related skills and qualifications needed for employment through raising their career self-efficacy, encouraging their creative and innovative thinking, improving their listening, speaking, self-presentation and entrepreneurial skills, strengthening their capacity to effectively make decisions and helping them in their career planning. In order to meet our desired learning outcomes, various non-formal and informal methods such as business simulations, role play, guided visualisations and group discussions, were implemented. The main activities were presented in an order which corresponds with the real life job seeking, employment obtaining and retaining processes. Participants discussed about qualities needed to succeed, evaluated themselves, presented their strengths in creative ways, improved their work-related skills through business simulations, prepared themselves for situations such as CV writing and job interviews, used their gained knowledge on problem situations in the work context and set future career goals.Dissemination of results will included different Croatian and foreign NGOs, Councils and the Employment Service as important bodies which will alleviated the impact making process and raised awareness of the importance of taking measures to support youth employability in times of economic instabilities through public presentations of the project's results in social media, brochures and at public manifestations.Participation in activities resulted with individuals who are able to contribute to their community as skilled employees or even employers, not only at the regional but also international level due to experience sharing. Every participant obtained additional skills of adjusting to culture specific work demands which, completely in concordance with Erasmus + values, enabled building careers and exerting meaningful contributions worldwide.
