With Media Literacy towards Cultural Awareness and Tolerance

The main aim is to increase a level of quality of intercultural education through increasing media competencies of the youth and use media for increasing transversal skills of young people as creativity, innovation, ability to learn and initiative-taking. Focus will be done on critical thinking on media and adapt it to the new conditions, in where the media have strong influence on creating reality in youth.Similar needs were identified and shared by partners from different European partner organizations. In order to respond to these needs on international level the idea of an Multiaction Project that consist from 2 ACTIONS (2 Mobilities for youth workers ) Semminar and the Training Course (TC) for youth workers was shaped.The main aim of the project is to increase the level of quality of intercultural eduation through increasing media literacy of the youth (included also young people with fewer opportunities) and use media for increasing transversal skills of young people as creativity, innovation, ability to learn and initiative-taking. The objectives of the project are:- to exchange experiences with media education through NFE- to exchange and create creative attractive tools and methodes which will allow to youth workers to tackle hate speach, predjudice and xenophoby spead in new media, increase media literacy of young people and to promote European values as tolerancy and respect to Human rights - to increase participant´s media and intercultural competencies for working in an environment influenced by media and social networks- to increase competencies of youth workers to lead projects and activities with participation of young people from different cultural and social background and fewer opportunities-to increase number and quality of the project and activities on the topic of project on local and international level- create toolkit with informations, experiences, tools and methods which will increase competencies of youthworkers to deliver to young people activities on media literacy, critical thinking, cultural awarness and will promote use of media to increment transversal skills of young poepleSeminar for youth workers,Czech Republic, Prague,24 participants in November 2016, 21st to 29th of November (including travel days) Countries involved - Czech Republic, Italy, United Kingdom, Finland, SPain, Poortugal, Turkey, Hungary, Latvia, MacedoniaTraining Course, Italy, Palermo, 24participants in April 2017, 1th - 9th April (including travel days)Countries involved - Czech Republic, Italy, United Kingdom, Finland, SPain, Poortugal, Turkey, Hungary, Latvia, MacedoniaDuring the both actions the activities are designed as a non-formal education activity, using holistic attitude. The participants will exchange their experiences, gain new knowledge and skills through simulations, role play, exercises, discussions, reflection exercises and group games. The activities will support critical thinking on media of the youth and with new approach will increase quality of intercultural education. The activities will be adapted to experiences and needs of the participants.The result of the project except the participants with new abilities will be an toolkit which will consist of methodologies, tools activities and focused on how to increase media literacy among young people and promote cultural awarnes and tolerance.The publication (TOOLKIT) could be used as a guide for preparation of activities, which support intercultural and media education in international projects based on methods of non-formal education.The main impact of the project is on youth workers. Gained abilities will help them to create activities for basic themes of training independently, to attract new groups of youth and involve them into enlightenment of issue. Secondary impact is on partnering organizations and their target groups. This group consists of youth, who will have a chance to gain new media and intercultural competencies, and actively participate on the thoughts of tolerance and intercultural understanding. Long term, the project can contribute to growth of media literacy of youth and thus promote cultural awarness and tolerance.
