"Why Europe? The influence of European legal culture on international law" is a complex, interdisciplinary project that includes educational and research components. The project also aims to develop creative thinking and creative doing skills among the participants. The project is addressed directly to the students of RSUH law faculty, but in more broad sense it is addressed to Russian professional legal community and to Russian civil society in general. The main idea of the project is to demonstrate the value of European civilization achievements and their influence on national and international legal culture and law. The project participants will be able to see how these achievements have shaped multinational legal culture based on key legal principles (humanism, justice, good faith, equality of rights, etc.).The project participants without assistance (but under the guidance of a tutor) will find out the European civilizational factors (religion, art, science, economics, politics) that formed the mentioned legal principles, researching each factor with individual attention. On the next stage the participants will see how these principles are embodied in modern international public law, how they are reflected in European law and how they affect different national legal systems. The lecture component in the project is minimal. The focus will be on independent research, the results of which will be embodied in various creative (depending on the talents and aptitudes of the participants: creative essays, stories, poems, etc.) and research (scientific essays and articles) forms. The results of the participants’ work will be posted on the website specially created for the project and will be published in the form of colorful booklets that will be donated to the universities' libraries.
