Search for European Projects

Weihnachten in Europa!
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Apr 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The idea for the project arose as young adults and adolescents from Oldenburg exchanged themselves with their parents over their respective cultures and origins. These conversations concluded the idea to present all the individual cultures to the public, especially the young people. As so many traditional narrations adress the Christmas time the subject was clear to us in an instant: We want to present Christmas Tales from all the various european countries on stage! A total of 50 young adults and adolescents with widely diverse cultural backgrounds from Armenia and Germany will come together and collect stage plays that tell the Christmas traditions from eastern Europe and their relation to western Europe. To deepen the experience the participants from Armenia and Germany will pick out the european values and traditions as a central theme in a joint workshop phase in December 2014. The results will be part of the stage play concepts and will be shown to the public in four performances. Since the performances will be filmed, they can be viewed in Oldenburg and Armenia alike. Long term, the event is to be held every year in december. Our aim is to include more countries from year to year in order to tell a European Christmas story at the end.
