We Grow Together
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We Grow Together is a coproduction of five organisations, leaded by passionated people: Youth Spirit, Romania; Foroige, Ireland; IKSZE, Hungary; Boris Divkavic Foundation, Bosnia_Herzegovina and ONE WORLDcitizens, Netherlands. As project partners of We Grow Together we want to make social entrepreneurship accessible for as much as youth as possible between the age of 10-30. We want to help the youth to be able to take the lead when it comes to changing the society. And we are not doing this for just any random reason!More and more youth understand that durable change has become a necessity: we have to treat each other and the earth differently. Youth examine social problems and are capable of finding practical solutions. The youth has the need to develop their entrepreneurship. This will allow them to: undertake change by the help of their own ideas, make a difference and at the same time generate an income. Last year, youth from OWC in the Netherlands was able to contact youth from Romania and Bosnia-Herzegovina with the help of several events, such as the Kids Festival, organized by Out of Area and programs as the Youth Exchange Program and the European Voluntary Service from Erasmus+. By doing this we have come to the conclusion that youth in these and other countries have the need to develop social entrepreneurship.Somewhere in the beginning of 2015, OWC has come into contact with the European YouthStart Network that has successfully trained youth with their accessible courses about international entrepreneurship for over 20 years. This training is a perfect and accessible way for youth in Europe and elsewhere to develop social entrepreneurship. And that’s why we want to explore with a group of young people how we can apply this training in the best way for youngsters 10-30. So that’s why we organize We Grow Together and bring 25 youngsters and 5 group leaders from 5 different countries (Romania, Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary and the Netherlands) two times together during a youth exchange in 2016: from 16 to 24 April and from 23 until 31 July. The theme of the first week is: social entrepreneurship by & for youngsters. Within teams the participants develop their entrepreneurship by using the YouthStart methode, work out a social idea or project and develop an appropriate business plan. At the same time they search for answers to questions as: how enterprising are we? How can entrepreneurship contribute to a better life and future of youth? How can we develop entrepreneurship of ourselves and of other youth? After finishing the exchange week in April, the participants stay connected online until the second exchange week in July in order to help one another to work out the business plans and projects. The theme of the second week is: working together for a better life and future of youth, within Europe and elsewhere. In this week the participants will explore answers to these questions: How can youth in Europe help each other with social entrepreneurship? How can we work together to reinforce entrepreneurship of others and ourselves via online social media? The participants share their ideas about the use of social media, international cooperation and question as: how do you build a local community with youngsters at home? In our cities/countries? How can we connect local communities on international scale, so that youth in Europe and other parts of the world can share innovative ideas and solutions to problems? How do we connect them, so that they can help each other and bring out change? With We Grow Together we want to discover how youngsters in Europe see entrepreneurship, cooperating, helping each other, innovation and bringing chance into this world. The project holds the basis of a European network that gives youth the opportunity to develop social entrepreneurship and contribute to creating a better society and future.
