W-EST_WHERE is a project of choreographic cooperation between France (Cie Jasmina, Orléans), Portugal (Teatro Viriato, Viseu), Croatia (HIPP, Zagreb) and Hungary (Trafó, Budapest). This project takes place from June 2009 to June 2011. It has arisen from the common wish of its co-organisers to raise public awareness of young emerging south-eastern European choreographers. W-EST_WHERE’s mission is to promote and facilitate exchanges – between artists, cultural structures and players, institutional people, audiences, of a variety of European countries – in order to better appreciate and understand the diversity and depth of each country’s aesthetics, approaches and artistic sensitivities. The objective is to set the stage, respecting everyone’s cultural wealth, for a concrete harmonization of standard practices in creation, production, diffusion or training of choreographic artists, and thus facilitating the circulation of artists and works between South-East and Western Europe.
