Project respects the needs in the cultural tourism development of the cross-borde region and supports development of common thematic products focused on history and joint participation in European Union.Regarding the weak awareness of the Europe and even the world importance of the literary work of S. Márai there is a need to realise a project which would support this idea. People like to travel and discover places connected with their favourite writers. They are interested and fascinated when they have the chance to discover and alive places which had a major influence on the writers philosophy. Košice, where the author was born and spent his childhood was a offered a big inspiration for S. Márai and he is granting the city a major importance in his novels that were translated in to 50 languages and are being red all around the world. The project activities strive to interest all target groups of the project local inhabitants, cross-border visitors but before all the abroad tourists. Project aim is to support the development and promotion of the tourism product in Košice. Košice doesn´t have any tourism product of any tourism form yet. The city its self is not being effectively promoted abroad and doesn´t really have a strategy that would be implemented.Culture tourism has a big potential for this city. Budapest can give an example in this case to Košice. Therefore the know-how and experience in developing this tourism form is expected to be transferred from Budapest to Košice. Achievements: Considering the reputation of the literary work of Sándor Márai in Europe and in the world, the main aim of the project was to raise awareness of the literary importance of his work and to discover places which had major influences on the writer\'s philosophy in Košice and in Budapest. The specific aim of the project was to improve the tourism strategy and promote tourism products in Košice as the city itself was not effectively promoted abroad so far.
