Harmonising European vocational qualifications : Each EU Member State has a national system of vocational qualifications and those involved in collective bargaining in the labour field can call upon that system as a reference point or as a negotiating tool. However, for real mobility of workers within Europe a Union-wide, harmonisation of such qualifications will be essential. This project aims to discover the real situation on qualifications in specific sectors in four countries and to examine how these used in collective bargaining. The project is a step towards building a complete picture of the pattern of qualifications across Europe. This project started in 2000 and lasted 28 months.
