PROJECT
FINISHED
After a few years of experience in the youth field, we learned that youngsters represent not only our future, but also the future of unity and diversity, of society in general. Youth is often perceived as the transition from childhood to the adulthood, therefore from dependence to independence and awareness. The adults from tomorrow are the children from today and we all must work together to offer them the proper education for a better development, to make them conscious of their new role in the society. It is a big responsibility to educate these children in the spirit of citizenship, to inoculate them the freedom of speech and to inspire them to be innovative and creative. In order to accomplish that, we developped "Volunteers for future", a project inspired by youngsters for youngsters, that aims to increase the sense of responsibility, tolerance and self confidence, but also the sense of belonging to the European Community. Along with our partners, Romania, Portugal and Spain, we decided to "open our borders" and give young people the opportunity to get involved in voluntary actions around Europe. The 4 volunteers that will participate in this project will identify themselves as European and international citizens and will face new challenges : learning a new language, getting in touch with different cultures, addapting themselves to new customs and new ways of life. During their EVS project, they will take part in diverse activities that will develop their social and civic skills : managing conflicts, managing their free time, working in a multicultural team, promoting the sense of tolerance and empathy. Nevertheless, they will learn to take initiative, to express their emotions and their needs, they will become responsible and open minded. One of the most important characteristics of our project is that we focus not only on these 4 youngsters, but, with their help, we will help other youngsters from the hosting country to develop themselves. During their EVS, the volunteers will mostly work with youngsters in difficulty or in need, showing them a new face of the volunteering. With "Volunteers for future", we want to eliminate the stereotypes against the migrants and against those who are victims of social exclusion, so that these youngsters have a better future, with a chance to find a job, and also to encourage them to be actively involved in the society. In the same time, our objective is to make more visible the importance of international mobility. Our volunteers will be actively involved in the promotion of the Erasmus+ program and, through their testimonials, will increase the awareness of the importance of volunteering.Using non formal methods, we will try to fight against fears and prejudices, offering youngsters interesting alternatives and new directions for their future.
