The project Volunteering for social change from 2.European voluntary service will take place in the day center for single mothers “Rojdestvo Hristovo” in Sofia and the Integrational center located in Ovcha kupel district, and some of the activities are goind to be in other places in Sofia where Caritas has some initiatives and social projects. The projects is for 1 volunteer from Belgium for the period 01.06.2015-01.02.2016. The social center “Rojdestvo Hristovo” was established, in order to financially and morally support women at risk. The priority group are women who raise their children on their own and besides the main target group, there are mothers having many children, adoptive mothers, mothers lacking support because of domestic violence, mothers with sick children, mothers with mental and physical disabilities or other mental deficits and girls who have left orphanages. The project is for social integration and providing social services. The project aims to give an overview of the volunteer for the work in the center providing social services, an opportunity to acquire practical skills for working with materials that are used there, to improve social and communication skills of the volunteer, who will bring a variety of life in the center and in the life of its beneficiaries. The main activities also include work at the Integrational center for refugees where Caritas Sofia has implemented successfully voluntary project for supporting the children of the refugees since 2011. The group of the refugees is very vulnerable and they need big support from the society. They are eager to learn and communicate with new people, that’s why we find the place very good for the EVS volunteers to be there. Also, the project aims to familiarize the volunteers with the services which Caritas provides for other goups - children of minorities, refugees, drug addicted, elderly people, etc. To support volunteers during the learning process and to promote their Self-initiative, they will be supported by the team in the main activities of the center and alsoin other activities of the organization, and to provide suggestions for initiatives that correspond to the area of operation.
