PROJECT
FINISHED
The project VOLO is a project of EVS, for two youth, which is realized in partnership between the associations CISS (coordinating and hosting) Palermo ( IT) and JUZOOR (sending organization) Ramallah (Palestine). The context is related to young people and to their discomfort in Palermo and Palestine areas. They are young people who generally live in distress tied to several factors: the fragile economic context, the high cultural and geographical isolation, a strong level of social disintegration; such forms of discomfort does not allow adequate access for young people in decision-making, which could help to improve the improvement of social inclusion and active participation in their communities and beyond. Very often young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, experience a personal marginalization that implies their non-awareness of global issues, such as interculture, the youth condition, environmental issues, etc. Especially those who suffer different levels of cultural marginality, economic or social not infrequently, do not feel to be part of a global community where they can play an active role. The objective of the project is to promote the contact, the exchange of experiences between two young Palestinians and 50 Palermo Youth involved in volunteering and promote volunteering as a means of active participation. The project is structured in three main activities such as:
Activity 1: Coordination, identification of 2 EVS volunteers and pre-departure training;
Activity 2: The EVS experience. Made in the city of Palermo for a period of six months. The youth volunteers welcomed by the mentor, will participate in an Italian language course designed for them. They will be incorporated in the host community by young people taking part in the activities of local promotion;
Activity 3: Return of volunteers to Palestine and dissemination of the experience made.
The project makes use of the educational framework Erasmus+ that will be supported in the development of tools and in enhancing the skills of young volunteers and the dialogue to differences and interculture.
Although the project will involve two volunteers the impact of the project will be far greater. From one side with the community of 50 young people from Palermo who will welcome the two volunteers. The dissemination activities will be addressed to citizenship and will allow a further extension of the enhancement of the volunteer. On the other side it will create benefits for the Palestinian society. In fact it will be organized dissemination activities divided into three stages and with different targets, will allow a strengthening of activities of youth mobility and a greater knowledge of the Erasmus+ and its potentialities.
