Vocational Experience for Business Academy Students

The whole project has come into existence out of the needs of the sending organisation – Business Academy Česká Lípa – to enhance vocational knowledge and future employment options of the students and to support the connection of education, entrepreneur sector and state organisations. The main aim of the project is to broaden vocational knowledge of the students, their socio-cultural knowledge and the vocational terminology in the foreign language. The main part of the project are two- and four- week long stays abroad for carefully chosen students. The two-week long stays take place in London and the four-week stays in small and middle size companies in Austria. The main partners in the project are Business Academy as the sending organisation, ADC College as the receiving organisation in London and BVÖ Bildungsberatung & Vermittlungsagentur GmbH as the receiving organisation in Austria. Both institutions are well-experienced in Erasmus plus projects. The participants of the stays will be chosen from all three branches of study, it is Business Academy, Lyceum of Economics and Public Service Activities, their age is 17-19 years old, third grade of the school study. Fifteen students will take part in the vocational experience in London and ten in Austria. The students gain theoretical and practical knowledge and abilities in vocational subjects such as accounting, public service, economics, written electronic communication, ICT, taxes and law and they can improve and learn how to use them in real life situations within the project activities. The participants will be chosen according to in advance set criteria such as vocational knowledge and their active participation in school activities and foreign language knowledge. The choice will be carried out by a team of teachers of vocational subjects, class teachers, foreign language teachers, study mentors and the headmaster of Business Academy.In the preparatory phase of the project the partners will sign the Memorandum of Understanding and other contracts defining their obligations within the project. They will set the exact date of the stays and the exact work posts. The chosen participants will prepare for the stays, will fill in the necessary documents, sign Learning agreements, Quality commitments, will take a language test, will be prepared in vocational and socio-cultural issues.The stays will take place in the given term in carefully chosen companies in London and Austria. The accompanying person will monitor the participants during the stay and help them to solve all possible problems. The content of the stays is focused on gaining and improving vocational skills and knowledge that the students learn during their studies, these are for example: processing documents – filling, creating, checking, and processing post, administrative work with computer; working with goods, communication with customers and co-workers in a foreign language. The stays will help the students to verify and widen the knowledge concerning socio-cultural situation in the foreign countries they got during their school studies and in preparatory courses.After the stays are finished the evaluation and dissemination of the results of the project will be carried out. The project team will approve the results of the units of learning and will evaluate the results of the questionnaires. A conference to the project will be organised for the students of Business Academy, primary schools, representatives of companies, state offices and public. During the conference the participants will present the content of the stays, their experience and photos taken during the stays. The participants will also be given Europass mobility containing units of learning. The members of the project team will present the organisational, administrative and financial matters. Further dissemination will be carried out in the form of newspaper articles, messages on school web sites, open days at school and other occasions where the school presents itself.The benefit and result of the project is the improvement of the vocational knowledge of the participants, improvement of their communicative skills in a foreign language and contribution to the fulfilling of the aims of the European educational policy.
