The Edes Foundation is a non-profit organization formed by people with mental and intellectual disabilities, families, professionals and volunteers who come together to help each person with disabilities improve their quality of life towards a more just and egalitarian society .In the rural context in which we work, there is still important work to start drawing and build projects that allow a more independent life, more autonomous and self-managed better for everyone, including people with intellectual disabilities.Key focus of our work in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in general addressing in particular the needs of social and labor inclusion of people with intellectual DISCAPACDAD YOUNG.The Edes Foundation, which is already working and providing support to young people with disabilities, find a young person who can organize and coordinate the implementation of a pilot initiative in north-western Asturias which makes possible a group of young people with disabilities have the support necessary for independent living.in step to independence plays a fundamental role access to housing. In our case, access to the necessary support for independent living that generates opportunities for the implementation of learning acquired at earlier ages.We know that access to housing is a problem that today is typical of young people. Job insecurity, instability, lack of training, the high cost of living ... all sufficient causes to hinder any project of independent life and if we think in a rural area like north-western Asturias. For persons with disabilities does not escape this reality, but also adds to these difficulties the characteristics of their social and family context and stemming from the lack of specific support on their way to adulthoodWe seek the implementation of a project independent living is to facilitate the coexistence of a group of young people with disabilities who share housing with another person without disabilities, who will be a European volunteer.Among the most important activities to be developed by the volunteer we are:1_Prestar support in domestic and private economic arrangements. Looking at all times provided the balance between support and autonomy. It is to accompany young people to manage their own resources for coexistence but also from the ability of each-a.2_Velar for coexistence and conflict resolution derived therefrom. We understand that in the new situation to take responsibility for their own household tasks, making them compatible with training, employment or finding it, you can sometimes generate conflicts in coexistence itself. We understand the conflict in this case as an opportunity to create opportunities for learning, for the implementation of agreements, exchange. Figure voluntary and indispensable person the figure of a person from the professional support conflict resolution is necessary to ensure that such conflicts are solvent in a positive way.As for the planned methodology: monitoring will be done from the coordination team of the entity where they share and expose the advances and difficulties of each project. weekly follow-up meetings and coordination, both on the task, as the experience of the volunteer (necessary support, satisfaction with the host, context, culture, language support, leisure time, etc.) are contemplatedIn the long term, the expected impact is the normalization of independent living for people with disabilities in rural areas. As for the volunteer will undoubtedly be a learning experience as a facilitator of vital processes that promote more and better autonomy of people who need support but have large capacities to develop their personal and professional life.
