The most anticipated annual cultural event in Lithuania - Vilnius International Film Festival KINO PAVASARIS (Vilnius IFF) will invite the audiences to celebrate the 22nd edition (23 March - 6 April, 2017) offering the largest up-to date European film programme, presenting upcoming European talents, festive and cinematic atmosphere in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys cities. No less than 207 films will be screened (1100 screenings) of which no less than 177 (109 feature, 68 shorts) will be the European ones. About 30% of them will be accompanied by leading teams. Special attention will be given to debuting filmmakers from Central-Eastern Europe and Balkan region who will compete in competition programmes NEW EUROPE – NEW NAMES (since 2009) and SHORT FILM COMPETITION (since 2012). Competition programme BALTIC GAZE (since 2014) will attract local and international attention presenting recent feature films from Baltic Sea Region. All films will be assessed by 4 international juries and the Best Film winners will be encouraged by monetary prizes established both by the Festival and Vilnius City Municipality. National filmmakers will also be assessed in BEST STUDENT FILM competition and will compete for the LITHUANIAN PUBLIC’S CHOICE award as well as monetary prizes. International Film Industry Event MEETING POINT – VILNIUS (since 2010) dedicated to international film industry players will cover presentation of works in progress/coming soons from Baltic countries as well as rest of the Europe and non-European states, lectures, seminars, master classes, workshops and round table discussions focused on actual problems and challenges in audiovisual segment. Media literacy project CINEBOOK for schoolchildren will be held for the 11th time. Traditionally over 80 decentralized events will be offered to the audience and over 116.300 admissions are expected to be reached.
