The “Istituto Comprensivo” of Vigone is located 30 km from Turin and includes 2 pre-primary schools with 176 pupils, 2 primary schools with 312 pupils and 1 lower secondary school with 146 pupils. The total number of pupils is 634; there are 60 teachers and also 20 non-teaching staff (secretaries and caretakers). The 24-month Erasmus project, will bring an extraordinary and powerful gust of innovation to this small rural school. It will also mean learning to share and to renew, something which has never been experimented before. A specific committee which includes the Headteacher, the Deputy and some teachers who are responsible for specific fields, informed the staff about the Erasmus opportunities. The school's priorities were established and the applicants were selected according to their personal training requirements. Consequently, the committee identified the following main transversal objectives: - to reach a higher quality level in teaching through an international comparison to other schools and taking part in methodology and linguistic competence refresher courses;- to promote excellence in teacher training; - to achieve an effective planning at a vertical level from pre-primary to lower secondary school;- to become more open-minded and aware of a European dimension - to enhance international cooperation with partnersThe selected activities are in line with the objectives and have been conveyed by the Committee into a balanced schedule of refresher courses and a job shadowing activity. The required refresher courses in Ireland, United Kingdom and Malta are as follows:- 7 language courses at different levels (from A2 to B2)- 9 for teaching techniques, methodology and CLIL- 4 for ICT practiceThe twenty applicants are as follows:- 6 pre-primary school teachers (1 specialized for special needs children)- 7 primary school teachers (1 specialized for special needs children)- 7 lower secondary school teacher (Deputy and 1 specialized for special needs children)The job shadowing experience will take place in Sweden in a Primary school which is located about 150 km from Stockholm. Before leaving, three teachers will plan a work schedule with the Swedish host teachers. They intend to visit the school and the classes, to observe the school system, organization, methodology and possibly to teach some basic Italian.According to the Committee, these teachers are the ones who will best be able to convey what they have learnt both to their colleagues and to the students. The Erasmus+ Committee, with the headteacher's supervision, is responsible for the candidates’ experiences in each stage of this project development: preparation, monitoring during the training placement, impact, dissemination and evaluation.During their training activities, the applicants will have the opportunity to improve methodology and linguistic competence, collect and share material from other participants, but also to meet new contacts for future international partnerships. Some teachers, who already manage the school website and blogs, will further enhance their ICT skills. The school, led by the Committee, the applicants and the staff’s active and collaborative spirit, intends to achieve the following goals:• to improve linguistic and methodology competences• to go through new and innovative teaching skills• to increase the use of ICT in daily teaching• to encourage permanent training in an international dimension• to disseminate and share the results of the Erasmus project not only within the school but also at a local and regional level• to keep contacts and achieve new activities with the job shadowing host school • to encourage e-Twinning projects• to test and evaluate the developments of the entire project. The school considers the applicants who wish to take part in the mobility project to be propellers; the experience will work as a strategy for future developments in terms of modernization and internationalization. The entire school believes that a two-year project could work better in order to reach the strongly underlined objectives mentioned.
