The public primary school from Chevaigné (located in Brittany, France), according to the educational programs of the French Ministry of National Education, dispenses foreign languages courses (English or German) from the 1st grade (CP) to the 5th and last grade (CM2) of primary school.
Both colleagues in charge of these courses need to renew their teaching practices in order to:
- adapt them to a uncreasingly younger audience;
- make them more authentic, by adding cultural elements about countries linked to the language taught;
- include the use of new technologies;
- and finally, complete the course with the possibility for pupils to be part of a language exchange with Chevaigné's partner towns.
Therefore, both colleagues teaching foreign languages have asked for 2 mobilities each, so that they can be trained with new technologies and taught to manage an e-twinning project, while improving their teaching skills and their language skills. They will also take advantage of their stays to gather authentic documents, which would be very helpful and used in class as soon as they come back.
They finally would like to galvanize language exchanges with partner towns through the school, by promoting it towards pupils and their families. More globally, they are planning to open pupils and their families to Europe, by enhancing their knowledge about European partners and by making them understand similitaries and differences between all European countries.
