The project is aimed at getting to know new ideas of a middle management level with leadership responsibility at a foreign school, training in modern technology in teaching and social skills. The middle management level with leadership responsibility is where decisions of general principle are implemented and monitored. The participants will get acquainted with different methods of management like coaching, annual employee performance appraisals and target agreements. Nonetheless, the differences between the two resp. three school systems (Germany, Sweden and Norway) have to be considered, especially when trying to establish such a new organisational structure in the candidate's home country. For that matter two members of a newly introduced middle management level at a German secondary school shall be sent to the Swedish and Norwegian twin school where this system is already in progress to take part in a job shadowing project . In Sweden this project should stretch over a perio of three weeks, in Norway for about a week. ^ Besides getting to know these methods of management at least the teachers in question will attend and teach German and English classes to become familiar with how curricular competencies are implemented abroad in a modern and innovative way, using tablets or interactive whiteboards in an educational environment. These curricular competencies may include ways of creating and maintaining an effective learning environment for students, making use of modern technologies and enabling students to organize and reflect their work independently. In conclusion, the job shadowing project aims at providing the candidate with managerial and educational knowledge, which should then be applied and adapted to a German school. This should enable the school in question to restructure its organisation in a progressive and sustainable way. Two international courses in Ireland resp. the United Kingdom are meant to deliver a more comprehensive insight into how "modern technology" can be used successfully in class and how to break new grounds in the field of "social skills". All these activities are aimed at improving the instructional quality at our school.
