UtlandsAPL läsår 2015/16 - 2016/17
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim for the project, work experience abroad, is that the students will get experience how the different professions are executed in other countries than Sweden. The students will also get the opportunity to experience cultural differences between Sweden and the country where they are working, and also get in touch with differences in the working life. The aim is also to give the students additional skills and the security and confidence to take the step to work abroad later on in their professional life. The students will use English or Spanish in the daily life and the students will improve their language skills. Work practice abroad also improve the quality of the education. Strömstad Gymnasium is planning to send 12 students/year (24 students totally) to Ireland, Malta and Spain. The period will be 5 weeks/occasion, and mainly during April/May. We plan to be able to give opportunity for work placements for students from the Swedish education programmes Hotell and Tourism (HT) and Business and Administration (HA). We plan to send following students: Malta: 12 students, 6 each year. Spain: 4 students, 2 each year. Ireland: 8 students, 4 each year. The students will have trainee jobs in shops, working as sellers or with visual merchandising. The students will also work at hotels and in a travelling agency and as tour leaders. We have sent our students abroad for work practice more than 10 years. Our work is on a long term basic and we are very anxious for good quality in the education and also in projects of work practise abroad. A teacher has always accompanied the students a couple of days, or we have visited them, to make sure that everything is fine. It is necessary to make sure that the companies that give the work placement are of good quality and the work they offer our students will give the students experience and skills. Our students have always felt safe and almost all of them have completed the period of work practice abroad successfully.
