Project „Universal languages" is a youth exchange project that will be held in Gulbene, Latvia between August 3-14, 2016. Project involves 32 youngsters + 4 group leaders from Latvia and Spain. With this project we want to bring together young people with different backgrounds, past and interest, to promote the inclusion and participation of young people in the society. We would like to see that active young people "pull up" passive ones so they become creators and doers. We want to to learn something new and challenging, to work with foreign young people who have similar interests, and to do something meaningful in our town.There are two main objectives for the project:1) to improve young people's skills to formulate and express their opinions, emotions and attitudes;2) by using creative, attractive and innovative methods to build young people's understanding and awareness of the importance of participation, and thus encourage them to be active members of society.The project concerns two themes. One is creativity which covers the whole project. The second theme is the inclusion, as we will include young people who have so far been taken into account less and who have been away from active participation. Probably the standard approach is not working with them. To achieve project aims we will use different non-formal methods and creative workshops, for example, theater, dance, extreme sports and percussion workshops. Through these workshops also discussions about the theme of the project of the participation and inclusion will be developed. At the end of the youth exchange young people will create a performance which will be publicly exhibited during International Youth Day in August 12, 2016. It will present the ideas developed in the exchange. At the end we expect that we understand each other more, understand our role and meaning in society, become more confident, more capable to formulate our ideas and lead them to realization. We can debate and defend our opinion, etc. Also we are looking forward to show that different interests can also be combined, different young people from different backgrounds and experiences can work together to achieve a common goal. We hope that the passive young people's motivation and participation increase.
