United Against Physical Inactivity is a joint initiative of European youth and sport organisations aiming to combat low physical activity rates and sedentary lifestyle of young people. The main objective of the project is to raise awareness on the importance of healthy living and to encourage young adults to be active part of their communities. As the main activity of the project, a 9 days-long youth exchange will be realized in June 2016 in the surroundings of lake Velencei, which offers various sport and outdoor activities for all. A total of 41 participants, aged between 18 and 25, will discover the benefits of regular physical exercise by learning and practicing new sports and discussing health realted topics together. The target group of United Against Physical Inactivity involves young people with less opportunities to engage in sport activities, especially NEET people. The programme of the youth exchange is based on active participation. Participants will develop key competences which help them to become leaders in their communities. Besides acquiring knowledge on topics concerning regular physical activity and healthy nutrition, they will implement the theory into practice by planning and organizing sport activities for local people. With our non-formal learning methods based on ETS (Education Trhough Sport) we would like to promote volunteering in sports as well. On the long run, United Against Physical Inactivity intends to become the starting point of a fruitful cooperation of European youth and sport organisations. We are committed to create a network of associations to promote Health Enhancing Physical Activity among young Europeans and to develop sport related projects together. We believe that united we can reach long lasting change and we can combat decreasing physical activity levels in Europe.
