The project involves :
- 16 trainees, alternating between 50% training and 50% classroom based teaching, particularly students who intend to pursue a ‘Bac Pro’, and ultimately a career in the equine industry. The placement lasts for a period of 27 days. The trips are due to be carried out in October/November 2014 in the Malopolska region of Poland, Andalusia in Spain, and the province of Leinster in Ireland.
- 2 tutors co-responsible for the project within the MFR, who wish to improve their language skills (English) and acquire a greater level of autonomy in dealing with the necessary documentation, and follow up with the various project partners. Tutor training is due to take place over an 8 day period in London.
- The MFR team, as a partner and project manager,
- The Polish, Spanish and Irish equestrian centres, as our student’s hosts
- The language training centre as a host for the staff,
- Local intermediaries in each of the three countries involved.
The objectives of this international internship are as follows:
- For the MFR Noyant de Touraine : to invest in, and uphold the Erasmus Plus program within the institution in order to enable young people to discover - in a professional setting novel practices within the three EU states: Poland, Spain and Ireland. Since 2007, the initiative has also sent young adults in the EU, through the Trans-Europe programme (Région Centre). The board of directors of the MFR has included in its draft for 2010-2015, a drive to roll-out the project across Europe and allow a maximum number of young adults to participate in activities abroad.
- For young adults : - develop professional skills and cultural awareness - develop job seeking abilities subsequent to the initial placement - develop interest and appeal in different lifestyles for our young adults, many of whom come from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds – encourage a more independent lifestyle, increase self-esteem and promote confidence in their ability to find employment through training and experience abroad, and who already possess professional skills acquired by regular internships and school-based learning in France.
- For tutors : to take an interest in other economic and social backgrounds in Europe and explore novel teaching approaches, and further develop professional skills.
- For French mentors : to engage in terms of educational preparation for the project, discover new forms of work placement and possibly meet with foreign mentors.
Activities during the placement :
- Young adults : they should focus on the development of professional skills as previously defined in the placement agreement, outlining appropriate tasks that may be undertaken by the young adults during their placement.
- Tutors : focussing on professional level language skills.
The project is managed over a period of 2 years : one year in the run up to and one year following the placement.
The results, envisaged impacts and potential long-term benefits of the initiative on both the young adults and the staff are as follows :
- Enhancement of professional experience and expertise,
- Enhancement of language skills,
- Increased self-confidence allowing for greater professional and individual fulfilment,
- Greater professionalization among members of the MFR to develop and sustain the overall project,
- Refining the MFR’s image and perception, through a European initiative,
- Create a dynamic network between foreign and French professionals
