ACT is seeking to support the arts and stimulate creativity around shared cross-border activities on culture and heritage. Achievements: THURROCK (ESSEX) IN JULY 2013 AT FRANCO-ENGLISH PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS ORGANISED BY THE ACT PROJECT. Thurrock International Celebration of Culture (TICC) is an event dedicated to culture for all – a concept that entirely meets the objectives of the network initiated by the ACT project around creative arts (music, singing, theatre and dance). French and English ACT partners joined forces to organise two highlights of this two-week event. Dancers of the companies “Eco – Emilio Calcagno” (France) and “Theatre Is…” (England) along with Royal Opera House dance practitioners organised a series of workshops for students and young people in Thurrock and Southend. They worked together to perform an evening of contemporary ballet around the creation of “Donkey Skin” on 5 July. On 12 July, the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne performed a concert mixing classical music and jazz thanks to the contribution of composer and musician Chris Brubeck’s jazz quartet. The Royal Opera House Thurrock Youth Chorus “RM19” made one of their first appearances at this Anglo-French evening too, as well as young musicians from across Thurrock who enjoyed master classes with French saxophonist Guillaume Saint-James.
