Új utakon a Csonka a XXI. századi szakképzésben

The No. 13 Industrial Vocational Institution of Budapest was founded in 1950 as an automotive vocational school. 27 October 1989 marked the day the school adapted the name of János Csonka, a pioneer of the car industry, in honour of the 50th anniversary of his death.Our present-day student body consists of 292 people, a number we are hoping to increase in the following years.The Csonka János School is a well-known entity in the car industry. Our students have won numerous national and international competitions throughout the years. We are striving to restore this legacy, therefore, it is of the utmost importance that our teachers, instructors and students all participate in international mobility schemes in order to gain education and work experience they could not easily access in Hungary.We are hoping to resurrect our professional network with partner schools in Germany and Slovakia.A short-term goal is to motivate colleagues by helping them access new developments, in order to enhance their teaching skills. In the long run, this will enhance the quality of our vocational education. We aim to familiarise them with practical skills-based educational methods that ensure an effective co-operation between academia and work sector. We also hope to improve their insight into IT-based education.At the selection process of teachers, we will decide how to best share their new knowledge with the rest of our teaching staff. The selected colleagues will not only create the necessary reports, but also participate in workshops, instructional seminars. We are planning to share our insights with other schools of similar profiles.Additionally, we plan to introduce a new course related to the use of renewable energy. This subject has hitherto been obscure in Hungary, therefore, its addition to our curriculum will grant the school unique strategic advantage. The mobility scheme will help us prepare this plan.We aim to adapt already developed solutions to existing issues from schools of the same profile.The mobility scheme gives us a remarkable opportunity to widen our students’ perspectives by introducing them to multiculturalism: by working together and achieving goals along with the students of the partner institution, our students will develop a sense of tolerance.Another priority is to be familiarised with the vocational educational systems of other nations and studying international leadership skills.The selection process of students will be professionally co-ordinated. In the short run, the students shall gain an improved understanding of their subject. In the long run, we expect to see them become independent European citizens.Participation in the scheme is in itself a motivational force that will help our students achieve higher standards.Thanks to the practical training, they will be capable of quality work, with an insight in the theoretical background, improving their performance throughout their studies.Once the scheme is over, the participants will instruct their fellow students by creating the same workpieces once more, gaining responsibility and pride in creating quality work. This will help us measure the skills and competences we aim to improve.
