PROJECT
FINISHED
58 students from the hospitality courses in Technikum Ekonomiczne w ZSE im. A. i J. Vetterów in Lublin will take part in the project. The participants will undergo a four-week-long internship in hotels located in France, Germany and Spain. The hotels in which the internship will be held are characterised by a high level of professionalism, good preparation for the patronage over trainees, as they have been in a long-time cooperation with our partner hospitality schools in terms of internships. The main aim of the project is to gain international experience, new professional and language competences regarding the service of hotel guests coming from different cultural environments and different linguistic regions. The participants will get to know the organization of work in the hotels abroad, they will also learn how to work in a multicultural team. The hotels, in which the participants of the project will undergo the internships, are located in unusually attractive tourist destinations. The tourists who are staying there come from a number of cultural-linguistic regions, which may guarantee the participants adequate conditions to learn the scheduled skills. The participants will develop a range of skills regarding the service of hotel guests, setting tables, preparing tableware for different kinds of meals and orders as well as arranging the dining area in a restaurant. They will get familiar with the range of room facilities and various techniques of making up different accommodation units at three- and four-star hotels. They will also get to know regional culinary traditions and practise a professional foreign language. An increase in the standard of service provided in the hospitality industry, progressive specialization of the hotels and development of new branches of hospitality provoke changes in requirements which the future employees will have to face. The school, therefore, is forced to adjust the curriculum and educational standards to the demands and expectations of the labour market. The participation in the project will boost the students’ self-esteem. It will also enable them to learn new skills which may be interesting for their future employers, and thus could also facilitate the process of job application both in their own country and abroad. Taking part in the project may contribute to the improvement in a social and economic situation of the participants, who often come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Thanks to the project, the students will realize that the idea of mobility is attainable and acquired knowledge, experience and new acquaintances will open new horizons for them. This project will have an impact on a good reputation of the school amongst the students, parents, future school candidates and employers as a school for which the main aim is to create the conditions to reach the highest possible educational standards and excellent circumstances to undergo the practical part of the professional training. The participation in European ‘internships’ projects is a way to achieve these aims. Cooperation with the employers on the project will create strong bonds between the school and the employers' environment and will give the employers actual influence on educating future personnel. Such cooperation will also affect the image of the hotels as the institutions that actively engage in the integration with their environment. The current project is a continuation of the earlier long-time cooperation with both the intermediary and receiving organizations which has been effective not only in terms of the previous ‘internships’ projects. The project will be held in three rounds: I round: Date of realization: 13/03/2017 - 07/04/2017 The internships for 3 groups: Germany: Dresden – 6 participants, France: Montpellier -6 participants, Nimes – 6 participantsThe total number of participants in I round will be 18.
