PROJECT
FINISHED
Some information about our project, which was attended by foreign language teachers from the “Secondary School of Sports and General”, can be already found in its title: "Let's teach in a modern, interesting and effective way”.
Since now our teachers have been using the knowledge they managed to gain during their studies or all sorts of training in Poland. However, it seemed not to be enough. The possibility to take part in specialist courses abroad had a positive influence on the teachers’ approach and the way they teach young people as well as reduced the process of teachers’ burnout and increased their motivation to teach. The significant was also the fact that the courses were carried by the native speakers.
We wanted to encourage our teachers to use methods particularly liked by the students, namely, with the use of latest information technology. That is why, all the courses our teacher participated contained uch elements. Teachers also managed to update its expertise in the field of contemporary methodology and didactics, gain new materials to work and experience in the implementation of EU projects. We hould not forget about personal contacts between teachers which could be established during such meetings. We hope that they will result in the future cooperation projects or eTwinning partner (we have managed to accomplish one eTwinning project, more are planned for the second term).
Materials the teachers got during training were used not only by the project participants but also by other teachers of our school. We shared experiences with our colleagues during team meetings. We conducted open classes during the week of foreign mobility in our school. The meeting was also held for all the teachers who are interested in future participation in the projects ERASMUS or POWER. We note with satisfaction that many teachers of other subjects became interested in improving the quality of their work.
The experience gained during the project allows us to shape our students' core competencies in a better way and one of the most important core competencies is the fluency of using foreign languages.
Additionally, our students had the opportunity to participate in an eTwinning project with partners gained due to the POWER project. We believe that they are much more motivated to learning foreign languages. We see that at the end of the term students got less unsatisfactory grades in those subjects compared with the previous school year. The average score of the mock exam of English also raised. In the future, we hope to eliminate the phenomenon of repeating classes and confirm the effective implementation of our project: "Let's teach in a modern, interesting and effective way”.
