Continuous development in the area of improving work quality and international cooperation are top priorities of Tadeusz Kościuszko High School in Konin. Activities in this area are undertaken with a view to preparing students for further education and improving their prospects of employment, not only in Poland, but also abroad . In order to achieve the goal, the school staff work hard on obtaining the highest possible scores in external examinations taken at the advanced level and shaping the pro - European attitudes in students.
The key to full success lies with decisive intervention programme aimed at improving the skills and qualifications of the school staff , varying teaching methods and tools used by the teachers and rearranging the teaching and learning process.
It is limited language skills that hamper the development of general subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology , History / Civics, Geography, Polish) teachers. Improvement of the language skills by means of enabling the teachers to participate in language courses in English-speaking countries opens up ample opportunities to make use of a wide range of didactics trainings organized in the European Union (Finland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France) and in the longer term to get acquainted with the teaching methods employed in modern European schools (job shadowing) and to implement new teaching techniques with the development of students' creativity and resourcefulness in mind and also to promote the idea of multiculturalism. It will contribute to enhancing work quality as well as improving final exam results, which will fulfill the criteria of the rate 40% persons aged 30-34 are univrsity graduates.
The knowledge and skills acquired by the teachers are expected to increase the effectiveness of regular classes and make extra-curricular activities more attractive to students through the introduction of innovations in the form of e.g. teaching some subjects in English. Training foreign language teachers in the teaching of another foreign language can also contribute to broadening the educational offer without the need for quantitative changes in employment. The whole process may also be the first step towards the introduction of a bilingual class preparing students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and inititate other activities in support of exceptionally gifted students.
