Project application: “Learning differently, learning smart school” was designed to focus on training teachers in ICT and including the English language into teaching programs. The project application was based on an annual evaluation of the school in which both the students and the parents will participate. The objectives of the project were the following: 1. Innovation of the school’s curriculum and especially the introduction of CLIL methodology 2. Effective use of ICT in education – the creation of new and modern teaching materials 3. Complete and effective use of each teaching hour 4. Promote European thinking among students 5. Effective and equitable student assessment Eight teachers were selected to participate in the project. They were selected on the basis of a selection process that was called for by the school’s management and included the following: 1. Writing a motivation letter explaining why the teachers wanted to participate in this project 2. Filling out an initial questionnaire 3. Proposing suitable activities that pass on experience to others Together with the selected teachers, a participation contract was signed that clearly stated the rules for participation. The main activities of the project were: 1. Professional courses aimed at introducing CLIL into the educational program. 2. Professional ICT courses, which taught teachers to create new and modern teaching aids 3. Courses focused on multicultural thinking Based on the implementation of the project, the following results arose: 1. interactive textbooks 2. innovative curriculum 3. new e-learning system for the school 4. on-line testing system 5. worksheets, podcasts 6. system of training for teachers in the EDUCAnet network 7. professional lectures in the area of CLIL at Charles University’s Faculty of Education
