Let’s create a European school in a small town I High School in Łańcut is located in the town of Łańcut with the population of 17,000 , situated on the eastern wall of Podkarpacie province with an unemployment rate of 18%. Most of our students (60%) are of rural background and due to the location, the school is their cultural centre and the window on the world. The school has its own development plan with educational and didactic priorities. The most important ones include modern school management which can meet contemporary challanges and motivate both teachers and students to a creative and active attitude, being open to new technologies and work methods. This attitude can be obtained through constant skills improvement including language skills. It is connected with a planned launch of bilingual classes with English being the leading language. Hence the need to support teachers with language competences and innovative work methods. It will help to prepare students for openness and equip them with firm language skills, which will be their pass to attractive studies and employment not only in their home country but also abroad. One of the important aims of the school development plan is cultural education hence the cultivation of interests, the promotion of talents, after-school classes (theatre) and the plan to create foreign language theatre. 16 teachers are interested in participation in the project. Two of them are members of management, nine language teachers, and five other subjects teachers who want to take part in international EU projects and international exchange. Completion of training will result in refreshing their language skills, learning innovative teaching methods, new technologies and will enrich them with the teaching experience of other course participants. The project participants not only worked out a plan for E+ but also prepared after-return activities: practical application of learned skills which will result in better Matura exam performance, higher number of students and teachers taking part in certified exams, launching bilingual classes, international exchange, foreign language theatre, participation in international projects etc. All these actions will allow students from Łańcut to believe in their own potential and educational oportuniteis which will result in determination for learning. Widespread publicity of the project’s values in the local media, among pedagogical board and teachers from other schools will let teachers and students even from rural areas believe in themselves, make Europe much closer, be ready for accepting challenges and constant learning.
