TRIBE- Transitory research initiative of Balkan and East Europe is an initiative of four organisations from East Europe and the Balkans. With the planned strategy of targeted actions TRIBE aims to fulfill the following mission:1) to connect organisations in East Europe and the Balkans, 2) to establish new AIR programs in the region and to improve existing ones, 3) to conduct research on transitory art and produce new transitory artworks. Overcoming the gap between new media and contemporary art is a shared conceptual backbone of all partner organisations involved. TRIBE will promote dialogue and discussion between these two fields and actively work on involving other organisations and cultural workers in this project on an international level. Through workshops, conferences, round tables and working visits the participating organisations will share their know how, and on the other hand open a public discussions on transitory art. It will furthermore research this questions on a practical level through artist in residency exchanges between organisations and through production of new artworks. Special focus will be given on dissemination of content results and involvement of audience in the project, thus stimulating broader participation and involvement in the issues addressed. The anchor of TRIBE is the development of a trans- European residency exchange platform between organisations which will acknowledge each organisation's local context and background, but will perceive them as starting points for a fruitful development of the above mentioned common goals. The project will thus build on the following core strategies: education, dialogue and knowledge sharing on AIR models on the convergence of new media and contemporary art ; conducting research and production of transitory art which will function as an umbrella concept with which each organisation's individual position and interests will be challenged and will thus foster new ideas, methods and concepts.
