TravelTraining VI: Training Programme in European Companies – a Guarantee for the Optimization of the Qualifications

It was intended to continue the development of a project for 14 students of the various professional courses that met de necessary conditions to engage in Work Base Learning. These courses culminated with the presentation of a project, designated by Professional Aptitude Test (PAP) and with an internship (Work Base Learning Experience), both to be held in the hosting countries.
The Professional Aptitude Test (PAP) was held during the third year of the training course, and consisted in the presentation and oral defense before a jury, of a project related with the nature of the course, in close relationship with the hosting company and under the supervision and monitoring of one or more teachers from the technical area of the respective course. The professional activities in International Work Context were a demonstrative factor of professional knowledge and skills acquired during the training and structuring for the professional student's future career. This WBL experience carried out in transnational context was the culmination of the development of various periods of lifelong education of students, totaling 840 hours. Students of the 3rd year of the course, target group of this project, had 360 hours of WBL, with 280 hours performed in a transnational context. The International WBL was a set of professional activities under the coordination and monitoring of the School, supervised by the hosting institution, which aimed the acquisition and / or development of technical, relational and organizational skills relevant to the performance profile of the course taken the student and the development of personal, social, linguistic, cultural and intercultural skills.
The organization and development of the transnational WBL obeyed to a work plan agreed between all parties, having in mind the activity of the hosting company as well as possible activities to be developed by students in a real context, according to their professional profile and technical competences. In this sense, protocols, learning agreements and other important documents were discussed, agreed and signed by all parties Additionally, all students completed and validated the Europass Mobility document.
All students had language lessons in Spanish and Italian, respectively, with a duration of 30 hours, before their departure.
Two teachers were also beneficiaries of this project who in addition to some training in the hosting country in what mentoring and tutoring in the workplace was concerned they also participated in the assessment process together with each professional tutor. They were also an important support to younger students who travelled for the first time out of Portugal.
With the evaluation carried out, it was concluded that all beneficiaries had an extremely positive experience not only at the technical performance level but also in their professional growth, revealing improvement of skills and more autonomy and also improvement in terms of language and cultural learning. Some of these beneficiaries have even been invited to work in the respective hosting institutions.
