TRANSVAL
Start date: Sep 30, 2008, End date: Dec 30, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

Vegetable resources are a priority today and can play a key role in the economic redeployment of the cross-border area. The partners therefore promote the use of plant biomass in economic and industrial applicationsand in research (energy, petrochemicals, food industry). Industry-industry and industry-academic partnerships on both sides of the border stimulate economic growth in the region, while the resulting know-how brings the region to the international forefront. The project aims at launching new cross-border partnerships in the field of Research and Development while creating a network between academic andindustrial actors in the cross-border axis. Achievements: To promote synergies in cross-border Research and Development and innovation based on agricultural resources, the partners created and finalised a map of the stakeholders in the area in the form of a competence directory with over 200 files. Several thematic meetings were organised, attended by over 500 French and Belgian participants (industrialists, academics, researchers).Through these actions, TRANSVAL has been the tool that facilitated contacts between the various actors. It is the initiator for cross-border collaborations and partnerships. At the TRANSVAL closing event in Ghislenghien, case-studies were also presented. TRANSVAL created a website (www.transval-fw.eu) as its main distribution tool. It provides all the basic documents, such as the competence directory, the minutes of the various meetings, newsletters, etc. and has over 50 visits a day. TRANSVAL has its own logotype, promotional brochures (1,500 copies) and posters (100). The press was invited at the various events, which resulted in 14 press articles, 2 TV reports (France 3 Picardie on 27 April 2010 and the closing event on 16 November 2010) and a radio report (RTBF Classic 21 on 8 July 2010).Synergies were also developed with other INTERREG projects involved in the valorisation of agricultural resources, to capitalise on the sharing of ideas and expertise (Polychanvre, Phytobio, Agrocalage, the Greater Region Programme TIGRE and the cross-border competitiveness project Techflax).
